WHITE DOVES AT MORNING is an American Civil War history story everyone can appreciate. True to Burke's usual style, White Doves is filled with characters you can't put away and scenery that will never leave your mind. But most of all it is a story that will breathe with you and will sit in the back of your mind long after you've finished reading the book.
James Lee Burke is the kind of favorite author that keeps me turning pages, or in my case popping in the next audio CD, and buying more without even looking to see what the story is about.
As a veteran series writer, Burke has a master touch with his Dave Robicheaux Series and Billy Bob Holland Series. You don't have to read them in order to enjoy each individually. They're hard to put down no matter what order you read them in, but there's a special treat in following the repeating characters as they grow.
