HAWK O'TOOLE'S HOSTAGE

First published in 1988, even with the familiar plot of captor and captee finding each other too irresistable to avoid, this one is still a favorite because the characters do their job to entertain.
Hawk O'Toole is desperate to force the government to re-open the Lone Puma Mine for the survival of his people. His capturing of Miranda Price and her young son from a vacationers train ride was a gamble to sway her ex-husband, U.S. Representative Price, to help.
But Miranda is not the shrew the tabloids portrayed her to be, and Hawk struggles to control his feelings between harsh and tender while he struggles with his desperate cause.
And Miranda, willing to risk anything to keep her son alive, struggles between fear and contempt for her captor, empathy for the cause and the personal history that drives the brooding man who threatens her son's life.
